Use external embeds where they fit, and keep paid content hosted on your own platform where you control it.
Vodlix external video embed lets you place videos hosted on third party services directly into your platform, and it is worth understanding the trade off before you do. The gain is simplicity: an embed is trivial to set up and the hosting service carries the storage and bandwidth cost. The loss is control: embedded content cannot sit behind your paywall, cannot be restricted by territory, and reports analytics to the host rather than to you. Used knowingly, embeds have a place; used for paid content, they undermine your business model.
Someone else pays for storage and delivery.
External files cannot be gated.
Their recommendations, not yours, at the end.
External embeds in Vodlix are best suited to marketing clips, promotional content and third party video you do not own or sell. For your own trailers, use Trailers Management instead, so previews play inside your branded player and stay consistent with the rest of the service. Keeping the distinction clear ensures viewers meet your brand, your player and your controls wherever the content is yours. Embeds handle the peripheral material; hosted video carries the core catalogue.
An embedded video remains under the control of its host, not your platform. The hosting service can remove the video, restrict it by region, change its player or run its own advertising over it, all without notifying you. That is acceptable for a free marketing clip, but it is a real risk for anything a viewer has paid to watch. Vodlix supports embeds so you can use them where appropriate, while making clear that paid or exclusive content belongs on infrastructure you control.
When content needs a paywall, territory restrictions, a consistent branded player or reliable analytics, host it on Vodlix rather than embedding it. Upload through Video Uploading and Transcoding, and the platform encodes, packages and delivers it through your CDN, protected by conditional access, geo fencing and DRM as required. Self hosted content also feeds your own reports, recommendations and watch history. For any video that earns revenue or carries rights, hosting it yourself is what keeps it secure.
