Content Lists: The Rows That Are Your Shop Window

A Catalogue Is Not a Storefront

Vodlix content lists are the rows that turn a catalogue into a storefront. Uploading a library gives you a catalogue; ordering it into rows turns it into a service. A viewer sees roughly three rows before deciding what to watch, so what sits in those rows is worth more than anything buried further down the page. Vodlix lets you hand pick a row or let one build itself, then order the whole page without touching code. For OTT operators, content lists are the shop window.

The Same Rows on Every Screen

Content lists in Vodlix are shared across every screen. Build a row once in the CMS and it appears in the same order on web, mobile and TV, in the living room and in the pocket. There is no separate merchandising per device. This means a promotion arranged once reaches every viewer at once, and the home page stays consistent wherever it is viewed. One set of rows, everywhere, is what keeps merchandising manageable.

Manual and Dynamic Content Lists

Vodlix content lists come in two kinds. A manual list holds exactly the titles you choose, in the order you set, which suits launches, campaigns and editorial collections. A dynamic list fills itself by rule, such as newest additions, a genre or most watched, and stays current with no maintenance. Both kinds are managed in the same place and can sit side by side on the home page. Manual and dynamic lists together cover editorial control and effortless freshness.

Seasonal Rows Without Rebuilding

Every Vodlix content list has an active flag, so a seasonal row can be switched off and brought back later with its running order intact. A holiday collection, a sports season hub or an awards row does not have to be rebuilt from memory each year; it is deactivated and reactivated. Lists can also be controlled through the API. Seasonal merchandising without rebuilding is what makes recurring campaigns cheap to run.

Programming, Not Publishing

The point of all this is that merchandising becomes a daily act rather than a development ticket. Push a new release to the top of the home screen the morning it lands. Build a row around a season, a director or a mood and retire it when it stops earning. Put a sponsored row where it will actually be seen and price it accordingly, which is where content lists meet your advertising. Give a row of your own to whatever continue watching surfaces, so returning viewers land on something they have already started. Then read your reports to see which rows people actually play from, and rearrange next week on the strength of it.

What is a content list on Vodlix?
A Vodlix content list is a row on your storefront, either hand picked or filled by rule, that you create, place and order yourself from the CMS and that appears on web, mobile and TV.
What is the difference between manual and dynamic content lists?
A Vodlix manual list holds exactly the titles you choose in the order you set. A dynamic list fills itself by rule, such as newest or most watched, and stays current with no maintenance.
Do content lists appear on every device?
Yes. Vodlix web, TV and mobile apps read the same content lists, so a row built once appears in the same order in the living room, on the phone and on the web.
Do I need code to arrange the Vodlix home page?
No. Whoever runs programming can build, reorder and activate Vodlix content lists from the admin area without deploying code, and lists can also be managed through the API.
Can I reuse a seasonal content list on Vodlix?
Yes. Every Vodlix content list has an active flag, so a seasonal row can be switched off and brought back later with its running order intact rather than rebuilt from memory.
Do the same lists appear on every device?
They do. The web storefront, the mobile apps and the TV apps all read the same lists, so a row you build once appears everywhere and an edit reaches every surface at the same time.
Who needs access to change the rows?
Whoever runs your programming. Building and reordering lists happens in the admin area, so merchandising your home screen is an editorial task rather than something that waits on a release.
